After achieving his pre-university education diploma in the nearby city Lelystad, he studied Industrial design at the university of Delft. Despite the fact that he grew up in an environment designed by professionals, Dim soon discovered the desire for something more creative and less beta. Dim moved to Amsterdam and started working as an assistant photographer. After assisting he decided to apply for an art academy. Dim was accepted at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and finished the academy in 2009.
Being distanced and being a part of, are two significant coexisting themes in Dim's work. Dim is a technical well educated photographer that works from the heart. Dim has an associative, raw and romantic, mixed style. His images are pure, honest and humor is a great part of his work. In his frozen images the beauty is to be found in something to much in, or completely out of balance.
